BIG NEWS J&J Victory and Beauty Industry Challenge

August 16, 2012
Dear Green Beauty Consumer,
Have you heard the news? Together we did it! We convinced one of the largest cosmetics companies in the world, Johnson & Johnson, makers of Aveeno, Neutrogena, ROC, Clean & Clear, Purpose and Johnson’s Baby Shampoo, to agree to phase out chemicals that can cause cancer and harm our health from its baby AND adult products in 57 countries around the world!
Following its commitment last November to phase out 1,4 dioxane and formaldehyde from its baby products, yesterday J&J outlined its commitment to phase out carcinogens including formaldehyde and 1,4 dioxane, and other toxic chemicals linked to birth defects, diabetes, hormone disruption and breast cancer from its adult products, too.
While J&J still has some work to do, and we’ll keep working with it to make these changes, this is a big step in the right direction.
Write to Cosmetics Giants
Victory! J&J removing cancer causing chemicals.

But we can’t stop here! The Campaign is challenging the other global cosmetics giants to step up to the plate and MEET OR BEAT J&J’s commitments.
Please take 5 minutes today to demand that L’Oreal (Maybelline, Garnier, Kiehl’s, The Body Shop, Softsheen-Carson), Proctor & Gamble (CoverGirl, Pantene, Secret, Old Spice), Estee Lauder (Clinique, MAC, Prescriptives), Avon, and Unilever (Dove, Ponds, St. Ives, Axe) follow J&J’s lead and commit getting carcinogens and other toxic chemicals out of their products.
You can also help us spread the word by Together we’re changing the face of the beauty industry and making it a little prettier, greener, and less toxic!
Thanks for all you do!
Your fans,
Lisa, Darylle, Janet, Cindy, Jamie, Nneka, Heather, and all of us at the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics
